Paragon Consulting Services, Inc. was established in 1996 with the concept of bringing together the most talented consultants possible to provide clients with the very best computer related expertise. Ronald Smith and William Macnamara, two consultants who had been in the industry for years with other firms and as independents, founded the company. Ron and Bill were fortunate to work side by side with many high level consultants, and the idea was conceived to bring these individuals together into one body to create the “dream team” of programming, analysis and business expertise.
Paragon began small, but we have experienced steady growth by providing top quality service to our clients. Our focus in the beginning was on EDI Implementation and staff augmentation, primarily on the IBM AS/400. Since then, we have expanded into many other platforms, technologies and services, and now offer expertise in mainframe and client server application development, E-Commerce, and web site development, to name a few. When post Y2K turned out to be of little consequence to anyone, many consulting firms crumbled having built their foundation on a bubble that was bound to burst. Paragon stood strong, however, and even enjoyed significant growth during this slow time in the consulting industry.
In April, 2002, Paragon acquired all assets of Metalware, Inc., a leading provider of software for the metals industry. The Metalware acquisition immediately established Paragon as both a provider of packaged software solutions, and an Application Service Provider (ASP) to companies located here and out of the country. In 2003, Paragon made another addition to the Packaged Software Division-MuniciPAL®, an Integrated Financial Management Solution, by purchasing the assets of Automation Counselors, Inc., a Frederick Maryland based company with over 30 years experience in the field.
Over the years, there were times when growth could have come faster at the detriment of our business philosophy. But Paragon has maintained its original goals and ideals, and we have managed to put together a group of outstanding individuals by striving to select only the best talent available. We have excelled because of our dedication and commitment to our clients, our staff and to Paragon itself.
